5Quality in sound, touch and look
By Roger L. Horvath
I've been looking at Privia digital pianos for a couple of months now...The lower end privia's were in the 450 to 600 dollar range but was holding out for more tones and recording capabiltiy. I happend upon this model the PX555, surfing Amazon, on sale with free shipping. The extra bells and whistles were a whole lot more than I had been looking for but at $660 I figured why not.The piano is much more substantial than i had thought it would be. The shipping weight was 79 pounds (this also included the wooden stand). It is a very attractive and solid built unit. The touch sensitive keys are true to a real piano feel and do take a bit of time to get used to (other Digital Pianos I've played in the past were not as sensiive to the touch). The sound is incredible and I can't express how blown away I am at the tones and rythnms that you can get out of this machine and the choices for configuration of tone/rythmns you can build. My only complaint is the vast options available require a whole lot of reading and fooling around to master. The record function works well but I'm not blown away with the Smart Media usage. I'm still working on saving my recordings to the card and retrieving it back later. I did however, quite easily, download some additional MIDI tunes from the internet and was able to transfer them with the card (this is much more convienient than having to plug in the keyboard to a computer via USB).All in all, I am very satisfied with the purchase and would recommend anyone in the market to hang on for a sales price or offer. You just can't beat the quality for the price.

5Casio wants to play with the big boys.
By Ross "The Boss"
For what this keyboard sets out to do, it's really quite amazing. I'm sure most musicians hear the word "Casio" and think toy keyboards, but they've taken a step up with their Privia line. I received the PX-555R (Or CS, depending on where you buy it) for my birthday and have been nothing but happy with it. Being a professional pianist, I love the feel of the weighted keys on this keyboard and it takes up so little space for an 88-key digital piano. I've actually managed to crank out quite a few recordings with this baby and have amazed many clients with some of the MIDI projects that I have created. While the sound banks may not match up to some of the higher end synths like the Trinity or Triton, there are still some great sounds to pull from here.I would not recommend this keyboard as a MIDI controller since it does slow down a little bit if there's too much information being relayed back and forth. Also, it's not a hugely configurable keyboard. You can save registrations within its banks, but forget about trying to modify the internal sounds. Also, if you use any kind of MIDI sequencing software, you'll have to do all your own mapping to ensure compatibility. I spent a couple of hours mapping it to Cakewalk Sonar so I could access some of the extra sound banks that are separate from General MIDI.For its price, decent sound banks, realistic touch, and wide variety of functions, I still keep this keyboard rated at a 5. I'm still saving up for one of the heavyweight keyboards, but this definitely is serving its function for me quite well.

5Excellent for a beginner
By ermy
I am a beginner and this thing rocks. I can plug it into my mac and mess around with Garageband or just use the great onboard sounds, drum beats, etc.Casio did a great job and made this model and the series as a whole affordable, IMO.The build quality seems top notch. It has survived 3 moves cross-country without being packed in a box and still looks great. It is heavy/sturdy.I'd buy it again if it were stolen.

3Learned how to play on this guitar
By Meredith Dhillon
This guitar is perfect for learning! Its not put together all cheap either, its a real guitar. It does tend to go out of tune pretty fast, maybe within a day, but that makes it good for learning how to tune, I was an ace at that before long. Its a good guitar for learning and has gorgeous sound for something as inexpensive as it is.

4Quality for the price
By Astara
I bought this for my granddaughter. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of construction, as well as the nice sound, because of the inexpensive price. The only complaint I have is that it is a full-sized guitar, in my opinion, and I had thought it was smaller.

5Great Guitar at a Great Price!
By cjmfebruary
I purchased this guitar to aid me in learning how to play. I have no real experience playing a guitar but I feel that this guitar will be easy for me to learn on. It is a quality guitar at a cheap price. It is also a very beautiful guitar. I can't wait to be able to play some songs on it once I learn. It has a good sound and feel when holding it to play. If you are learning to play a guitar or even if you are an experienced guitar player, I highly recommend this Johnson acoustic guitar. It is an excellent buy!

5Purchased for emergencies by this is the radio I use daily.
By moth
My Freeplay radio usually teams up with a satellite radio. The only static has been when the solar cell is hit by direct sunlight while the radio is already running on windup or electric power. Otherwise the sound is clear.Winding up is easy. The radio is compact. You can look through the plastic to see the inner mechanics.I am out in the desert. Two other radios get halfway decent reception from one commercial radio station. The Freeplay picks up five commercial stations, one with no static, so this little radio is a mighty mouse. No complaints with it.

5Great emergency crank-up am/fm radio
By Ann E. Revelle
I think very highly of the quality craftsmanship as well as the technological achievements present in this emergency AM/FM radio. It has the most efficient crank mechanism on the market and comes complete with an AC/DC adapter charger, a telescoping antenna, a large and good quality speaker, a single and bright LED flashlight, a separate LED for indicating the optimal charging crank-rate (that also makes a decent night-light and also shows that external AC power is being supplied to the unit) as well as a solar panel for both charging the internal batteries and also providing sufficient power to still operate the radio normally. The crank operates equally well using either a clockwise (cw) or a ccw rotation too so even if you forget, you can't damage it by turning the crank the wrong way! As advertised, 30 seconds of cranking gives 35 minutes of medium volume listening (or 25 minutes of loud volume levels) and the listening time increases proportionally if you crank it even longer. The system is totally analog, lacks weatherband, shortwave, aircraft as well as TV bands. but is nonetheless quite useful as well as readily affordable if you wait for a sale. Freeplay also makes a much more expensive digital model with shortwave bands as well, but it is very hard to build all these as quality features including a digital PLL (Phase locked loop) synthesized radio for a reasonable price that people will also buy. My advice is too stick with a much simpler, quality made device that you know will work reliably in a pinch when it is really needed. One really nice feature for example is that the FM antenna can be simply stored in the radio when not being used, but when it is needed it can easily be fully extended. This also greatly reduces the chances of it being broken off inadvertently in an emergency situation in my opinion. The analog vernier dial is very easy to tune for both AM/FM and allows an extra large amount of turning to easily and precisely tune the am/fm bands. The volume control on the side controls all available bands. It also has a jack for a earphone/headphone during quiet times. Finally the provided charger can also be left plugged in indefinitely because after the first 24 hours of preconditioning the battery pack (sealed internal Nickel Metal Hydride batteries), it will continue to keep them fully charged until the advent of an emergency by trickle charging (by applying only very small amounts of current). In the meantime you can feel completely free to use it as an everyday quality and very enjoyable listening device. Most of all I like how totally reliable and redundant the many independent systems are on this radio. For camping and roughing it, it would have been better if Freeplay had provided a carrying strap for the radio (to attach to the provided eyelet) just for something to grab quickly, but for general household emergency purposes it is just fine. Of course you can always add your own strap if you feel that you require it for camping, etc. In a real emergency however you will be very glad to have purchased this quality instrument in my opinion. Finally I intend to buy several more of these units for my immediate and extended family members who really need this device.

5No Compromises
By R. Rosener
I have been a user of self powered radios for several years now. Living in the middle west, we get all kinds of extreme weather, from tornadoes to ice storms. The power grid seems to go down at least once per year, and having access to information and radio entertainment is vital. Aside from the safety value, having a good portable AM/FM radio for listening to baseball games during the summer is a must.I've had the Grundig FR 200 self powered radio for a number of years now. Check my amazon review for that product. The Grundig has been a disappointment; the battery no longer holds a charge, and it's falling apart after a few years. So I was looking around for a good portable radio when the Freeplay EyeMax radio came up during a search. Frankly in the online photos it looks rather chintzy. But I had a Target.com gift certificate and needed a replacement for the crumbling Grundig. At less than 50 bucks I figured the Freeplay would be a safe bet. When it arrived I was impressed with the build quality right away. This little radio is well built! Very solid. I fiddled with the dials, and was very impressed with the power crank. It's a heavy, smoothly geared wind up. The handle has a nice texture to keep your hand from slipping. I cranked it for about 5 minutes vigorously to test radio reception. Well, that was almost two hours ago and this thing is still playing!! I believe the Freeplay claim of 25 hours from a full charge will be accurate. Moreover, the tuning knobs are well damped for finding the narrow bands of AM radio. The Grundig radio feels cheap compared to the Freeplay. The knobs on the Grundig have a lot of slop and it's difficult to tune. Not with this Freeplay! The volume knob is just as good, with just enough resistance to make minute adjustments accurate. The sound from the small speaker is very rich and warm;it's particularly well suited to voice resonance. Pulls in distant AM stations well, and all local broadcasters are static free loud and clear. This is equally true of AM and FM stations.I can't say enough good things about this little radio. Can't wait to try out the solar cell tomorrow. I have a feeling this radio is going to see a lot of use this summer, out in the yard, on picnics and fishing trips with the kids. If you're looking for an affordable small radio with a hand crank or solar powered battery this is it!ADDENDUM; Nearly FOUR years later this little radio is still a constant companion. The Clockwork Motor and battery have held up Extremely well! And I have dropped this thing countless times on my bedroom floor. The antenna finally broke in half, but reception still seems fine. I still highly recommend this Radio.
