This 10-input, 2-bus mic/line mixer features 2 state-of-the-art Invisible Mic Preamps (IMPs) and an effective, extremely musical 3-band EQ plus switchable low-cut filter on all mono channels. There is 1 post fader FX send per channel for external FX devices, main mix outputs plus separate control room, headphones and stereo tape outputs. Tape inputs are assignable to main mix or control room/phones outputs. good little mixer

I purchased this mixer for home use after using a similar Behringer model at work. It is a nice little mixer with two XLR mic inputs, several stereo inputs, tape in and out, effects sends, headphone jack (1/4 inch, not 1/8 inch, thank goodness), and an internal digital effects engine. It uses an external power supply (small brick with fairly long cords on both ends), and has no power switch (my main complaint).I use the mixer for feeding signals into my computer, primarily for recording voice. I usually only use a single mic or line source at a time. I intend to use it more extensively for instruments later, but for now I use it almost exclusively for voice, to record suggestions and affirmations for brainwave entrainment and related work, testing recording software, etc.I find the mixer section to be quite adequate for my use (basically an external volume control). It is reasonably quiet, especially at lower volumes, and the construction is surprisingly good in a device this inexpensive. The special effects are pretty cheesy for the most part, although the more subtle ones might be useful in the right mix. They tend to be very noisy, especially in the high end, and you can easily hear digitally induced forms of noise and distortion at higher effect volume levels and more extreme effect settings. Don't buy this for the effects, you will be disappointed. In fact, if you don't want to play with the effects, get the model without them. It is less expensive, and there is less circuitry to induce noise and/or fail. I like to have fun with effects from time to time, and it is usually easier to turn a physical knob than deal with the layers of stuff to do the same thing in software. They would be great for Halloween noises and voice processing, etc., party stuff and all that. I just don't think you would find them useful for really serious recording. Of course, that is a generalization, and you may find that the specific effect you want works well enough for you. Try it and see. There is always someone out there creative enough to take something in a whole new direction (Remember the old 808 drum machines? They spawned a whole music industry. You just never know.........)As far as straight mixing goes, I am very happy with how well this little beastie works in my application. It is solid, small, easy to use, and has good enough sound quality for playing around in one's home studio. I have not used it with very expensive mics, althought it does have phantom power for condenser mics. I have not done laboratory type noise measurements and all that, so I cannot give you hard numbers for noise, distortion, crosstalk, etc. I feel that the sound quality is solid enough at this price range to be worth serious consideration. As long as you are not expecting recording studio performance, I think you will find this mixer quite acceptable. It can get a little warm around the power supply connection area, but giving any electronic gear plenty of air circulation is always a good idea. Heat shortens the life of any piece of electronic gear.Bottom line is that this is a good buy. You get a nice, solid little mixer with a good list of capabilities for not very much money. Again, I don't like having to unplug it or use an extra power strip to turn it on and off, but I can live with that one inconvenience. I think it probably rates about 3.5 stars, but given the low price and solid construction, I feel 4 stars is fair.
