2Very Cheap Bag
By OKPhins
I was so excited about this bag. The reviews, descriptions and photos were great and it is the correct size for my 17" computer. I was so dissapointed when it arrived. The material is so cheap. Yes, the design is very cute and the interior has great organization and room for everything. It's really too bad that the faux crocodile looks like plastic and the lining is low-quaility fabric. This is such a cute design I would have paid more to have the same style and design in higher qaility materials. It does not look very professional or like something that a successful person would carry due to the cheap plastic looking exterior, so I am returning the bag. I think Mobile Edge should make the same bag, keep the dust bag (nice touch) and the interior organization with higher quaility materials and they would have a success. I am going to make sure the bag I get is another brand and leather after seeing this one. The great thing is that Amazon makes returns so simple, so at least that will be easy and I will continue to buy from Amazon in the future.

5Finally! Beautiful functionality for a wide screen notebook
By C. S. Ogryzlo
If you are shopping for a bag that fits the more unusual dimensions of a wide screen notebook (my notebook is w16" x h12"), this one is for you.I ordered my bag via Amazon. It arrived on time, very well packaged and in addition it was stored in a black, soft Mobile Edge bag to protect it from scratches. This protecting bag has Velcro closures so you can use it again if necessary. Inside the lay-out is as described under technical details and as shown in the various pictures. I chose this type of bag because- I like the look of a large, stylish, elegant hand bag vs. computer bag- the inside provides the same functionality as other computer bags- the price was appropriateMake sure to check the dimensions of your computer before you buy the larger size of this bag (it comes in a smaller version). And yes, it is indeed rectangular in shape.I'm a happy customer.

5Great item for large laptop
By idocki1
I needed a large tote for my Dell Inspirion 9200 17" laptop-- not an easy item to find. I ordered this item and was very pleasantly surprised! The bag is really nice looking- perfect for business meetings and and the best thing is that it doesn't LOOK like a 'computer bag'. It's made really well and even has four metal 'feet' on the bottom to protect the bottom of the bag. Several people have commented on the great 'style' of the bag as I pulled out my laptop in meetings and they were quite amazed. Since large handbags are still really in style, it fits perfectly! Also, for most women, the 'black hole' problem we have with handbags is solved with the nice suede-like RED lining with lots of pockets and places to stash our 'stuff'. I actually don't have to carry a seperate handbag and everything fits in this one. I recommend it to business women who have a large laptop and want to avoid the bulky briefcase look.

5super strong
By dsands
These gaiters are the top of the line. They are super rugged with the ability to withstand a ridiculous amount of abuse. Any time I have ever worn these I have never had any issues with things getting in my boots from mud to snow to water even. I have walked through water up to mid calf (for a short time of course) and these gaiters have kept me dry. The velcro closure on the front definitely feels super solid and I like the cam closure at the top of the calf. As a disclaimer, I am affiliated with Gore for product testing of Gore-tex products for the purpose of product review and recommendation. I do receive items from Gore for these purposes.

5The best of the best
By joe shmoe
I've tried about a half dozen different gaiters and these are the toughest, most effective I've ever used. Both OR and Gore-tex have a lifetime guarantee which is great peace of mind when buying an important piece of gear. I am a part of a program called MountainTechs and I do product testing for Gore-tex so I get my hands on a lot of gear. This is one of the most functional and well designed items out there and OR is the only way to go for gaiters.

4Yu-Gi-Oh cards, yippie!.... HOW MUCH?!?!
By R. Filteau
My only real gripe is the price that people ask for this. Yes, I realize it was a limited release product, but that doesn't make it any less annoying. Still, the cards were good, and I enjoy using the silver/rainbow case for my extra cards. If you've got money to splurge (like after Christmas or your birthday), then I'd strongly suggest getting this. Especially before the price gets higher.

4Great...but would be better without Thenien...
By A Customer
This master collection is insanly wicked. It has the coolest new cards, and Black luster soldier, along with breaker the magical warrior and exodia necross?! That is one sweet deal. But there's somthing I don't get. This collection brings thenien the great sphynx, an okay card except for its wimpy effect. Of course, this collection just HAD to bring the exclusive pack, wich has the same junky card, thenien, and a bunch of other losers. My suggestion? Tear thenien to shreds. Both versions. That's what I did. Other than that, its a great collection.

3Good but Not Great
By CHERYL STGEORGE
Canon's 70mm-300mm is a good amateur lense. In the mid-ranges it creates sharp images with little distortion. Its light weight makes it ideal for vacations and longer shoots. In good light it offers fast focusing with exceptional clarity, even at longer focal lengths. Further, if the majority of your work is going to involve the use of a tripod, the 70-300 may be the perfect choice. Indeed, if you are looking for a good daylight zoom lense, this will meet the needs of most casual amateurs. You already know that this is not a fast lense. Even in heavy shadows you may need to use speeds that are not conducive with handheld shots. Additionally, if you are a wildlife or sports photographer the lower speeds that are necessitated by the slowness of the lense might be problematic. Further, in shadows the lense does not focus quickly (five second delays are not uncommon), which has caused me to lose many shots. That said, given that the next steps are the Canon 70mm-200mm 2.8, which has clarity issues and is $1,000 more, or the professional prime lenses (with their mega price tags), this is probably the best telephoto option that Canon offers casual amateur photographers.

5Great Canon 70-300mm - IS - USM Lens
By KEN TELLS ALL
Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens for Canon EOS SLR Cameras (Camera)Just got it today. Researched this lens, and others, for many weeks. I read all the reviews by consumers and "experts" and determined that this lens had the least "negative" reviews in its class. This lens may not be a Canon L lens but at around 1 thousand dollars less it is a steal. I tested this lens on my Canon T3i at all zoom points both indoors and out. The "IS" works great and is pretty quiet. The "IS" function switch has two positions, "1" is for shooting still objects and "2" is for panning moving objects. The autofocus is spot on indoors under normal room lighting conditions. The autofocus is also pretty quiet. This lens far exceeded my expectations. This lens is relatively light for this type focal length yet it feels well built. It functions smoothly and is just a pleasure to use. The zoom lock switch is a nice feature. The 200mm & 300mm zoom points were sharp when shooting outdoors at buildings and trees. Some of the bad reviews I read about the 300mm zoom point being soft is not valid. The bricks and mortar lines on buildings were straight and detail was great. The tree branches were sharp as well as the pigeons on them and on the building ledges. I live in downtown Manhattan and face, Freedom Tower, it is still being built and I can see the cranes and steel frame of the building as well as the other buildings being built. The lens has no problem in taking spot on shots of the downtown area.I also bought this lens because it can be used on both full frame and cropped frame Canon cameras. This EF lens is made in Japan and not China.I will provide future updates as to whether its durability under normal use is up to par. Based on what I have already seen, this is "ounce for ounce" and "dollar for dollar" one of the best 70-300 IS USM Lenses around.UPDATE: 3/17/2012 - Night time shooting off my terrace was great. Using a tripod I set my Canon T3i manually to ISO 200 @ 1 second shutter speed with "IS" off. Pictures of lit up buildings in downtown Manhattan came out sharp and no flaring noticed at all focal lengths. Then I took the T3i indoors under normal incandescent lighting and used ISO 400 or 800, depending on zoom lengths, @ 1/10th second shutter speed with "IS" off & no flash. Pictures again just came out great at all focal zoom points. This is just a wonderful lens. Very happy with it.Will update about durability as time moves on.UPDATE: 3/19/2012 - Today I extensively tested the "IS" feature. I was able to consistently hand hold this lens at 1/10th , 1/20th and 1/30th second shutter speed at all zoom focal lengths. You indeed need a steady hand and body to do this but the tripod will always give you a slightly sharper picture w/o using "IS". Hand held, with the onboard flash, the pictures of course come out sharp. I have no complaints at all about the "IS".UPDATE: 3/20/2012 - Today I extensively tested "Autofocus". Under normal indoor lighting the auto focus works fine at all zoom points. The auto focus, under conditions where your eyes find it hard to identify the color of objects, starts to bug it out. This however is very normal with any auto focus system on any lens. The system just cannot detect properly the bounce back from an object that does not reflect enough light for the sensor to determine proper distance. If you switch to manual focus and focus on a point your eyes can resolve, you can then snap the shot. Based on 4 days of shooting under outdoor daylight conditions, both sunny & cloudy, the auto focus was accurate. At night, outdoors, I was able to focus on lit up buildings w/o problem. Get this, I was able to use auto focus to take a picture of a single star in a blackened sky. When I looked at it on my LCD I could not believe it. The star looked the same as when I saw it with my own two eyes. I did this by placing the red dot of the central autofocus square directly over the star. It is really fantastic!I will update my post when I have further information to report.UPDATE: 3/21/2012: I have been mostly operating my T3i manually with this long zoom lens as well as other shorter focal length lenses that I have. I find that you can achieve a more life like rendition of the subject that you are photographing in the manual mode. Once you know the lens you are using the easier it is to approximate what settings are best. I look to photograph the subject as the human eye sees it and not as the auto-program thinks you should see it. The T3i, and other DSLR cameras, tend to overexpose the subject by using a higher ISO than necessary. I rather lower shutter speed than raise ISO on none moving subjects. Indoors I look to maintain a 400 to 800 ISO tops. If you cannot maintain this level of ISO, use a flash. When indoors I want the picture to look indoors. If it is night, I want the picture to look as if it is night. I use flash indoors only if I cannot achieve a picture that falls under an ISO of 800. That is my philosophy on taking real life like looking pictures. This lens operates very well manually and it takes great pictures indoors and outdoors.UPDATE: 3/22/2012: I have come to the conclusion that faster & more accurate autofocus can be achieved under poorer lighting conditions when you use only the central autofocus square sensor. Just internally shut down the other peripheral sensors and choose the central red sensor. Then put the red sensor dot on the main subject or object that you want to shoot and the lens will have an easier time focusing. It works for me with this lens, and others, when you shoot under poor lighting conditions. It especially works well when the camera is focusing when using long zoom at 200 & 300mm.

5WOULD NOT STILL BE GRUBBING THE DIRT IF I DID NOT HAVE THIS CULTIVATOR
By D. Blankenship
This is my twelfth season for using this tiller. To prepare my garden I use an ancient Troy built that has been going strong for about 18 years now (I bought it used) and it looks as if this Mantis two stroke is going to last just as long. To be honest, I am a rather lazy gardener and the job of all jobs I hate most is cultivating and weeding. This little machine has taken away almost all of the excuses I have for not having a neat, well tended garden. There are a couple of things you should know though before purchasing this little gem:First, this is not a machine that is suitable for breaking up new ground or ground that has not been tilled for several years. It simply is not built for that.Secondly, you should not let your mind wonder when using this cultivator. It can take out a garden plant in a flash if you loose control over it and indeed, if you are extremely inattentive, it certainly has the capability of taking off a toe or two.Thirdly: I would strongly recommend you use gloves when using this for any extended period of time. They give you protection of course, but they also allow for a better grip, ergo, more control.Forth: Try to avoid running in through bailing twine, wire or even vines if possible. Getting the stuff untangled is truly a odious task.Fifth: Perform the preventive maintenance on it as recommended and then double the timing on it. Keep the tines sharp and keep them replaced as needed. (Yes, the tines are guaranteed against breakage, but I promise you that they will bend if bounced off enough rocks...hey, I live in the Ozarks, rocks I know!)Sixth: Watch out for larger rocks. Not only can the bend tines, but they can cause the machine to go out of control.Seventh: Watch and take great care with your gas/oil mix and at the end of the season follow the directions as to winter storage. Now that being said, this thing is a snap to use. As a matter of fact it can easily be handled by a knowledgably and trained child with very little supervision. It can go into places a larger tiller cannot possibly go. It is light and is very easy to maneuver once you get the hang of it. Now I admit that I am a complete and absolute klutz when it comes to fixing anything mechanical (well, truth be told, non-mechanical things too), but I have had to take this into the shop only once in the years I have owned and used it. Everything else I was able to fix myself using only the manual provided, and over the past couple of years a few sites on my computer. No fancy tools are needed; only the ability to read and a smudge of common sense. Hey, trust me, if I can do it, then just about anyone can. I mean we are talking here about someone so inept that my wife use to have to put the children's Christmas toys together as I could not manage it.I am like another reviewer here. I doubt if I would still be gardening, vegetable and flowers, if I did not have this cultivator. If and when it finally goes belly up (which will probably be long after I go first), I plan to purchase another. I do wish I could give this one more than five stars.Don BlankenshipThe Ozarks

3Mantis Tiller Has Lived up to Expectations.
By kone
I have owned my Mantis tiller for nearly 8 years now. I chose Mantis because I wanted a smaller tiller that did not require a lot of storage space. I also liked what I saw on tv commercials about the Mantis. My father had a much larger tiller of another brand that took up a lot of space and was incredibly heavy (but quite sturdy). He was going to give me his tiller when he stopped gardening, but after thinking long and hard about it, I decided to get the Mantis instead. Here is what I have learned about the Mantis in that time:1. Mechanical: The tiller works great, starts in 2-3 pulls right out of the box. It takes mixed gas at a 50/1 ratio. Never use "old" gas or gas that is not the proper ratio. Over the years I have had some minor problems with it, mostly related to starting and idling. My recommendation is to clean or change the air filter regularly. The filter is easy to get at and oftentimes clogs with dirt and dust. Change spark plug every couple years. When putting the tiller "to sleep" for the winter, take out the spark plug and pour in a teaspoon of motor oil. Pull the start recoil and distribute the oil in the cylinder. I have not had any major problems with the tiller. I just finished an hour of tilling today and it ran great. Final tip: clean the accumulated weeds off the tiller tines when they begin to accumulate. This reduces the stress on the motor. The blades are faily easy to remove, clan, and return to place - it will prolong the life of the tiller. Since the Mantis has a smaller engine, it cannot be overstressed. To compensaate for the smaller engine size, the tiller has extremely sharp blades and they spin very fast. The engine does not have much torque however, and the engine will bog down in heavy jobs. The engine will stop if rocks lodge in the tines. If your garden space has a lot of rocks, this is probably not the tiller for you.2. Functional: The tiller is lightweight and works best in smaller gardens, although it will work in a large garden too if the soil is lighter. I like how it can be manipulated with ease around plants and through smaller narrow rows (which a larger tiller cannot do). I am able to plant rows of vegetables closer together with the Mantis and till around them with ease. Perhaps most importantly, the Mantis tiller will not work well in heavy soils (with lots of clay). I experienced this firsthand. In heavy soils, the tiller cannot penetrate the compacted hard soil and just skims the surface. I found I had to spade up the heavy soil with a shovel and then till the clumps. A heavier tiller would have handled the clay soil, so if your soil is compacted and full of clay, this is not the tiller for those conditions. On the other hand, in lighter soils, the tiller goes through the soil just as depicted on tv. Excellent tiller for sandy loose soils. The tiller is only about 20 pounds. It stores easily in most sheds and doe not require a dedicated shed as a large tiller. Very portable!3. Overall: Overall performance is in the 3-star range, mostly because of the limitations of use in clay/havy soils.I do recommend this tiller for the gardener who has a smaller garden, wants to set plantings closer together, and has lighter soil. I'd recommend a larger heavier tiller for larger gardens or gardens with heavy soil. As Clint Eastwood said in "Magnum Force": "A man's got to know his limitations". Same case with this tiller. If you don't try to do too much with it, and know what it can handle (and can't), I think you will be pleased with the Mantis tiller.konedog

5Old Timer
By Stuart Kinzler
I can't even remember when I bought my Mantis, but it was at least 25 years ago. It has gotten hard use every year ever since. Mantis really stands behind their lifetime tine warranty; they replaced mine totally free of charge after at least 20 years without any questions. The new machines look almost identical to my ancient one. The amazing thing is that the price has hardly gone up at all. In todays dollars, that makes it a raging bargain. The machine is light enough for almost anyone to use it, but be prepared for some serious bouncing around if your soil is rocky. It's unbelievably powerful for such a small machine. I've seen professional landscapers use it to loosen soil for planting new shrubs in some nasty, hard-packed soil. They just use it to dig down as far as the tines will reach, remove the loosened soil, and then dig down farther until they have the hole as deep as it needs to be. In the garden, the tines can be easily turned around to use it as a shallow cultivator for weeding purposes. The best thing of all is that it can be used in tight or hard-to-reach places where no conventional tiller can go. The small size and light weight make it especially easy to store without taking up valuable floor space. For the price, the Mantis is a really practical piece of equipment that no serious gardener should be without. It won't ever totally replace the big tillers, but it can do a whole lot of things that the big ones can't. I would have given up gardening many years ago if I didn't have my Mantis. One of my gardens is inside a small (about 10'-by-20') fenced area that my big tiller is simply too big to handle. The Mantis gets right into the corners and tight to the fence with no problem. The Mantis may look like a toy, but - trust me - it's not.

5Versatile Walk-Around Lens
By Avid Reviewer
This is one of the most popular lenses, and with good reason -- you get a lot of bang for your buck. It has an ultrasonic motor drive (USM) for fast focusing, image stabilization (IS), and a very versatile focal range that covers wide angle to mid-telephoto on a Canon 5D and a respectable 38mm to 168mm (1.6*24 ~= 38, 1.6*105 = 168) focal lengths on cameras with crop sensors, like the Canon 7D, the Canon Rebel series, and cameras with APC-C sensors (1.6x crop factor). Its only downside is its f/4 aperture limitation. On the upside, it has a constant f/4 aperture (i.e. the f/4 aperture setting can be maintained across all focal lengths).- SharpnessThis lens is sharp across all focal lengths. I haven't noticed any degradation in image sharpness on either the 24mm or the 105mm end. However, the lens is sharpest between f/8 to f/11. Outside of this "sweet-spot" (i.e. below f/8 or above f/11) shots of distant objects are *noticeably* blurrier. (See uploaded images on the product page for a comparison of images shot with different f-stops: f/5.6, f/11, and f/22. The descriptions for the images begin with "For the pixel peepers out there...")For relatively close subjects, however, the difference in image quality across f-stops is a lot less perceptible - that's good news if you're using this lens for portrait shots and plan on opening up the aperture for a bokeh effect.- Chromatic Aberration (CA)The lens assembly uses Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) glass (reserved for Canon's best lenses), so chromatic aberration is minimal, even in bright light (where it's barely noticeable or imperceptible). In more even lighting, this lens shows absolutely no signs of chromatic aberration.- Auto-Focus (AF)The auto-focus is real snappy. Thanks to its ultrasonic motor (USM), it brings objects into focus in a fraction of a second. In the AI Servo mode, the focusing mechanism is very responsive for bringing even very fast-moving subjects into focus. However, as with all lenses, the auto-focus inevitably has a bit of trouble in (i) lowlight conditions and (ii) with surfaces that lack texture or contrast.- Image Stabilization (IS)The image stabilization is amazing. In my book, image stabilization is a must for a lens to be truly called a "walk-around" lens. For the times you don't have your tripod with you, the IS on this lens will prove very invaluable for helping you steady your shots, especially at the 105mm end! (It helps to bear in mind, too, the rule of thumb: the shutter speed should be at least as fast as the reciprocal of the focal length.)- Internal Focus (IF)The Internal Focus is a big plus, especially for landscape photographers who use a circular polarizer (also known as a polarizing filter). With Internal Focus, the barrel on which the polarizer is affixed doesn't turn and throw filter out of adjustment, so it saves you from having to readjust the filter after the subject is brought into focus.- BuildThis lens simply oozes quality. There's a good heft to it but it's not too heavy. Both the zoom ring and focusing ring turn very fluidly. The zoom ring is tight enough to prevent zoom creep.- Alternatives You Might Be ConsideringCanon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM: The EF 24-70mm f/2.8 has a constant f/2.8 aperture, but alas, it has no image stabilization, which is a real shame. The lack of image stabilization is definitely a deal breaker for most people, including myself.Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM: The Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 is an equally popular lens. (Note: it has an EF-S, not EF mount, so it's not compatible with the 5D. It's compatible all other bodies, such as the 7D, the Rebel series, and other Canon DSLR's with crop sensors.)With the 1.6x crop factor taken into consideration, this lens has focal lengths of 27-88mm. In terms of image quality, the 17-55mm f/2.8 is on par with the 24-105mm . It, too, uses Ultra-Low Dispersion glass. The only downside is it's not weather sealed (which is not a concern for me). If you don't mind forgoing "reach," I would highly recommend the 17-55mm f/2.8, which is one of the best low-light lenses you can buy. I use it for landscape and portrait, and it's my walk-around lens of choice.---The quality of this lens is top-notch and definitely worth the money. It offers a very useful 24-105mm focal range without compromising on sharpness. The only limitation is the f/4 aperture. If this is not a concern for you, this lens is definitely worth consideration.

5Ideal on full-frame, watch for sample variation
By D. Alexander
This lens is perfectly suited to full-frame DSLRs. It balances well on a 5D II, it's not too large, the zoom range is ideal for a walkaround, focus is fast and silent, the aperture is fixed, and the IS system provides at least three stops, perhaps even four.Sharpness is generally good on full-frame. It's not a prime, but surprisingly close at 105mm f/4. At 24mm f/4, the extreme corners (roughly 800x800 pixels each on a 5D II) are blurry. They clean up by f/8. Contrast overall is not abnormally good or bad. Once you start beating on the file in a raw converter, some of these differences disappear. Distortion and vignetting, while not subtle, are literally an instant fix in ACR. On a crop body, this lens has very good sharpness.Like all lenses with sophisticated optical designs, be wary of internal alignment problems. Some copies show uneven sharpness across the frame where one side will be slightly or significantly blurry. The major advantage of ordering from Amazon is that you can exchange defective copies at no shipping cost to you. Incidentally, my copy evidences no zoom creep. The zoom ring is not so stiff that it can't be worked with one finger. This is a very good movie lens. It's partially parfocal in that if you zoom to 105mm and focus, you can zoom out to 24mm and retain focus, or at least adequate sharpness within the depth of field. The reverse isn't true. The IS system is top-drawer, just as good as the 70-200/4L IS and significantly better than earlier iterations, though it will be audible in quiet environments. There's also a constant drift that'll impact shutter speeds below about 1/10. It doesn't lock in place quite like Tamron's VC, though this has benefits with panning. Some alternatives:Canon 28-135/3.5-5.6 IS+ lighter (540g vs. 670g)+ much cheaper ($200 used)+ slightly more telephoto range-- 28mm vs. 24mm-- older and less effective IS-- variable aperture-- zoom creep and looser build tolerances-- f/5.6 on the long end-- far inferior sharpness toward the edges with full-frameCanon 24-70/2.8 L II+ Prime-level sharpness, particularly in the corners at 24mm+ f/2.8-- no IS-- 82mm filters-- not the best portrait lens; 70mm is short-- heavier (805g)-- expensive ($2200)Canon 24-70/2.8 L I+ f/2.8-- many copies are not as sharp at equivalent apertures-- no IS-- not the best portrait lens; 70mm is short-- heavier (910g)-- expensive (~$1200)-- prone to misalignment with impactsCanon 24-70/4 L IS+ slightly sharper in the corners on full-frame+ smaller and lighter (600g)+ 0.7X macro mode+ updated IS-- not the best portrait lens; 70mm is short-- expensive ($1500)Tamron 24-70/2.8 VC+ f/2.8+ updated VC-- 82mm filters-- not the best portrait lens; 70mm is short-- heavier (825g)-- expensive ($1300)-- slightly slower AFTamron 28-75/2.8+ f/2.8+ lighter (510g)-- no VC-- lackluster build and haptics-- 28mm vs. 24mm-- noisier, slower, less accurate AF-- only sharp in the center on full-frameBecause the 24-105/4 IS is the kit lens for the 5D II and 6D, it's very common to find mint used copies (often never opened and still under warranty) for around $700. It's the bargain of this set for full-frame shooters, just as the 28-135 and Tamron's 28-75/2.8 are for crop bodies. Tamron's 24-70/2.8 VC takes a close second on full-frame. Optics are on par with the 24-105/4 and 24-70/4. Canon's new 24-70/2.8 II is a class above everything else at f/2.8 and f/4, though you won't see much difference after f/5.6. Pricing is stratospheric. Likewise with the 24-70/4 IS; there's very little reason to prefer it to the 24-105/4, and certainly not at over twice the cost. Serious macro shooting will benefit from a 100/2.8 or 150/2.8 with a longer working range.

4Love the lens
By Cosmophile
I am an amateur photographer and I love this lens, especially for outdoor photography and indoors where there is good light. The 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is a versatile lens on my 1.6 crop body camera; great for cityscapes, closeups of flowers (although not a Macro), sports and outdoor portraits. The images are very sharp when hand held with excellent color, and tack sharp in the mid focal range when used on a tripod. The USM focusing ring is near silent, fast and accurate. The image stabilization allows for sharp images when shooting hand held. The F/4 aperture is fast enough for most daytime outdoor lighting environments (dawn/dusk). This lens is of high quality materials and construction (feels great on the camera and when handling). Operation is smooth and precise, typical of Canon L class lenses. This is a great general purpose lens, however, if you want to take photos in low light without flash, wide panorama landscapes and long telephoto sports this is not the lens for you. But then, there is no single lens that has that broad capability. The 24-105 is expensive in the absolute, but if you do research on lenses you will find it is a real value. This lens is worth the money, every penny.

5Best Microphone I've used
By M. Rahim
I waited a year to shell out the money for the PR-40 and it was worth it. Its an amazing microphone. I use it to record lectures for my anNasiha podcast. I highly recommend you buy the Spider Shock Mount along with the PR-40. There really isn't anything more to say about this mic. I haven't tried the RE-20 which seams to be in its class but from what I've experienced working with this mic I'd highly recommend it.

5Great Microphone for Voice
By Socrates
The microphone I was using (for voice-over) prior to buying the PR40 was a Blue Yeti. Now while that is a great microphone I don't exactly have the best recording environment so I had to put it in a portable "vocal booth" (essentially a foam box). Even then the Yeti would do what condensers do and pick up noise other than my voice. I wanted to eliminate that unwanted noise and that portable booth so I started looking around for a solution. Dynamics seemed like my best bet and fortunately there are a number of great broadcast dynamics out there. Why did I choose the PR40 over, say, a RE20/SM7b/MD 421-II? Well, let's get into specifics.Extended frequency response. 28Hz-18Khz. My voice predominantly resides in the lower frequencies so I wanted to capture as much of that as I could while still not being overly muddy/bassy/muddled etc. I also don't have a whole lot of high end so it's nice that the mic can capture what little I have while also amplifying it (Heil mics have a "articulation bump"). The PR40 amplifies everything from around 1.5Khz to 12Khz. This is both good and bad. On one hand I believe this (along with that extended low end) is why the sound provided by the PR40 is compared to condensers. Broadcast dynamics typically have over-hyped lows and mids (think of radio voices). This bump is bad because it amplifies the frequencies where sibilance lies. Mouth noises might also be made worse by it. However, when you find the right distance (odds are no more than 6 inches away) it captures speech beautifully. Run it through a tube preamp if you want to make it even sweeter. Speaking of preamps...You're going to want 60db of gain. You can make do with 40db but you're going to be talking right up on that mic to get decent levels. This can easily make your recordings far too bass heavy. I'm using a Shure X2u with my PR40 and if I want to get a good signal to noise ratio in a noisy environment I've gotta talk within a couple inches of the mic. I should also mention that you shouldn't talk directly into the microphone without some kind of pop filter or training to lessen the force of your plosives. While the mic does have integrated pop filters they don't work magic like you find with a RE20. It is possible to talk within a inch or two of the mic without popping though, just talk across it rather than directly at it.As a parting bit of information I will say that the PR40 offers good off axis rejection. I have to worry less about airplanes, the sounds of people talking, birds, etc. and can just focus on recording. It's actually very liberating not needing to pause every time an airplane passes overhead. Ideally I'd just buy/make a silent space so I could then be free to pick a microphone that best suits my voice, but until then the Heil PR40 is a great solution.

5Another "thumbs-up" review!
By Andrew Henderson
This mic rocks. I mean REALLY. It has the detail and presence of a condenser microphone, but the "ignore the background noise" response and nice proximity effect that you get with good dynamic mics. My favorite dynamic for my vocals.

5It might last forever....
By Jack Showers
I don't review a lot of stuff.... in fact very seldom do I review anything. But, this morning I was moved to review the HP LJ 4700 when I printed out the "Usage Page"; Wow.The report says we've run 229,567 letter sized sheets through this printer since we started using it some 5 or 6 years ago. All of the paper that goes through it is 85 pound stuff used in mailings, and all of the printed materials are color. I'm sure I'll jinx the reliability by saying all this, but, up to now, we've not had any problems other than stuff that was traced back to the refurb cartridges we use almost exclusively.I might also mention that it has been used by about 5 different people in our company and some of us slam it around a pretty good bit. It will be in heavy use for months at a time, then will sit idle for months. And, of course, we use refurbished cartridges of who-knows-what kind of origin. In short, we use it hard much of the time.I must say that I'd seriously consider replacing it with another 4700 rather than go to a new model, if I had to replace this one. The refurbs for sale here are cheap. No, I don't have any relationship to HP.

4Excellent Printer, Workhorse.
By Paul Coyne
We have three of these printers in our offices. They are reliable, dependable, and quick. The ink cartridges last a long time. The only downsize is the printer is big and heavy. Excellent for text, reports, newsletters, where multiple copies are required.
