The field crews favorite rotary drill.

I ordered this drill to replace an old trustworthy Hitachi rotary that was in for service. We use these drills (Hitachi DH50SBK 2-Inch Spline Rotary Hammer, Makita HR5000 2-Inch Rotary Hammer Spline and this Milwaukee) for drilling holes for antennas into manholes. Some holes are in the street and some are off road. The drill we use is a 42" x 3/4" 5 cutter head bit. It has 36" of auger surface and this drill makes easy work of it. We drill at an angle, so the weight is noticeable but not a problem. I actually used it myself last week and it was the fastest hole I have drilled. I took about 5 minutes to drill 30+ inches diagonally through asphalt, concrete and two courses of brick into the manhole. It is hard to describe, but the handle has a hinge and some type of shock absorption built in. It really hammers the work material but doesn't shake your arm off. I weigh about 155 and can handle this no problem. We run it off of a generator since we are remote but it would probably work fine off of a 20amp service at a house. If you have a lot of holes to drill through tough material this is the drill for you. Make sure you but the spline shaft hammer if you need to drill hard heavy stuff, the bit and chisel selection is much better than what is available for SDS-Max bits.

The drill is very strong and durable. Drills through concrete with ease. It's a little tall and hard to keep plumb. Have to get use to it. They should come up with a leveler.

Great tool, should have splurged for one many years ago stead of renting so many times. Milwakee makes great tools.
