Shurflo 115v pump review

This compact little 115 volt ac pump delivers a quiet steady 45 psi stream of water. It is self priming and very easy to install and hook up. I have used a similar shurflo pump in 12v dc with no problems for over 20 years, and this ac pump is just as trouble free and reliable.

I chose to give this item a review because we are using the pump for a slightly different purpose than that for which it was manufactured. It has worked perfectly for our application so far, and I believe it will continue to do so. We needed a means in our church kitchen/fellowship hall to transfer a large quantity of iced tea from the mixing/storage reservoir to serving pitchers suitable to fill tumblers at tables. Occasionally we serve meals to groups of up to 500 persons, and we need to be able to rapidly and efficiently refill the tea pitchers without much messiness. I installed the pump against the wall under the counter in the service area, and used presssure-rated flexible braided plastic hose to attach a PVC suction pipe to reach to the bottom of the iced-tea reservoir on the intake side of the pump. On the outflow side, I used the same type hose to attach to a pot-filler type lever-controlled faucet which works great to dispense into pitchers, etc. Since the pump has the pressure-controlled automatic switch, it instantly switches on and pumps steadily while the faucet is open, and instantly switches off when the faucet lever is released. The pump is self-priming, and takes only a couple of seconds to prime the first time, then stays primed until the suction tube is removed from the tea reservoir. We are able to fill a one-gallon pitcher in approximately 15 seconds, which is very adequate for our need. After use, we pump clear water through the system for a rinse, and do a final rinse with a small amount of clorox in the water to inhibit mold during periods of non-use. Another helpful detail is that the hose barbs that come with the pump are made to disconnect without tools, so the hoses are easily removed for cleaning. We have used this pump as described a number of times, and so far it has performed flawlessly! It also operates extremely quietly, so that even in its immediate vicinity it isn't noticible when it's running. I would certainly recommend this pump to others.

nothing fancy, just a basic RV pump that I use in my shallow well at my cabin. I go through one every couple-three years, it seems, because I am using it daily (I live at my cabin full time)and without a pressure tank (so it cycles on and off a fair amount.) Works well and hard, for the money. Arrived promptly from Amazon, which was good, cuz the old pump was dying!
