Product Description

The 5000AD3 features a host of refinements and upgrades to its original, performance-proven design. The legendary DW 5000 Series bass drum pedals have remained The Drummer's Choice and the standard of the industry for over a quarter of a Century. The workhorse 5000 Delta 3 Series now features an Accelerator (offset) Double Chain & Sprocket along with aluminum hex shafts, linkages, dual/side adjusting hoop clamp, 101 two-way beater, built-in spurs plus all the versatility, adjustability and reliability that allow you to customize the feel and performance to fit the way you play. DW's patented Ball-Bearing hinge is the state-of-the-art in hinge design and the beginning of our Delta Tri-Bearing System. The ball bearings virtually eliminate friction while keeping perfect alignment so you can feel the footboard working with you. The Accelerator (A) Drive System offers an eccentric motion that creates an indirect relationship between the sprocket and the footboard, increasing the velocity of the pedal by shortening the length of the stroke. It is recommended for situations that require increased speed and sensitivity.

3Failed after 9 months

I bought this to replace my noisy Yamaha pedal. It took awhile to get used to, but I (was) very happy with it until it started recently making noise and playing less smooth. I isolated the sound to the rocker bearing. After some research, this part seems to be of faulty design and is the limiting factor in an otherwise sturdy pedal. You may want to contact DW to see if they've updated this part since May of '11. The 5 year warranty does not cover 'moving parts', so I guess I now need to buy a $30 replacement part. Not what I was expecting from the 'industry standard'.

4DW Drum Workshop 5000 Series Delta III Accelerator Bass Drum Pedal with Bag

I dont know why only 1 of 3 rated my review as being helpful...? (two rating this NOT helpful... "DOGMA" maybe?)I AM BEING HONEST AND GIVE THIS PEDAL KUDOS... BUT (read on)Pros:1) It is a VERY WELL MADE pedal, no doubt about that.2) It is also very smooth and quiet.3) ALOT of professional drummers use this pedal because it is so well made and smooth (I was at LACMA friday night Jazz a few years ago and Peter Erskine was using a DW single pedal *fyi*)4) SOLID VERY WELL MADE - it will last a lifetimeCons:1) It is PRICEY.2) It is difficult (FOR ME) to play because:The heel plate sticks up so far from the ground that it gets in the way of my playing and is VERY uncomfortable for me. The height of the heel plate in comparison to the level of the floor is VERY noticeable. I CANT relax and play it. Again, it gets in the way and makes it difficult to play, in fact this is why I dont play this pedal. The height of the heel plate gets in the way and for me makes it unplayable. The heel plates ARE interchangeable (you can purchase additional ones of varying thickness). However, when I did own this pedal the screws on the bottom side holding the heel plate in place were frozen in a locked position. You need to use a Philips (+) screw driver to undue them, and MINE started to "strip" BEFORE I could untighten them.If you do take off the heel plate (assuming youd want to of course, or even were able to) then youd have to purchase the one youd like to put on the pedal and this would be more money spentThe pedal I use and find better, for 1/3 the price is the Tama Iron Cobra Jr pedal (the JUNIOR pedal, not the Iron Cobra pedal). It is the best pedal I have ever played. It is well built, SMOOTH, quick, great responsiveness, and WAY CHEAPER (pricewise) then this DW pedal.I find the Iron Cobra Jr to be better than the Iron Cobra pedal because it is smoother and lighter. It is a VERY smooth pedal, and quiet. EASY to play, NO LACK of quality! It is also around 1/3 the price of the DW Drum Workshop 5000 Series Delta III Accelerator Bass Drum Pedal (fyi)I give THIS pedal 4 stars because of its construction quality, it WILL last years of use and still function perfectly because it is so solid and sturdy - VERY WELL MADE! ALOT of pros use it. It will literally last you a lifetime. However: In my opinion so will the Iron Cobra Jr. though (fyi). It is just as smooth as ANY pedal out there (if not more), it is VERY responsive and easy to play... SMOOTH and quiet. Two sides to the beater as well (Plastic one side, felt the other). There are ALOT of pedals out there - take your pick!I hope this review helps you decide! The only real way to know is to PLAY ONEHappy drumming

3Bad clamping mechanism
By A.N
This pedal has real good action and is pretty responsive , as long as it stays in place. The problem is that the clamp to attach it to the bass drum is a very poor design .It is a two phase process :You turn a wheel to lift the back end , and have to tighten a fish-hook shape ( point sticking up ) under the back,It will never center and is just barely holding the clamp in place , resulting in the entire pedal rotating off center time and time again .I always have to re-adjust it at least once during practice and between songs during gigs .Its also real fragile , ( always transport it in a case ) . The slave pedal chain got bent a little , and greatly effected the action .I had to pay $180.00 to get the chain replaced , and the drum tech ( top guy in l.a for all the top drummers ) was complaining how bad the design is , you cant just replace the chain , you have to replace the entire foot plate because the chain is attached to the footplate .He also pointed out I was not right about the clamping mechanism - it is a poor design .Ive used this pedal since 2005 , it is too late to return it , otherwise I would . Go with something else .
