This undersink water filter system features our Doulton Ultracarb three stage cartridge combining the highly efficient filtration properties of ceramic with the enhanced water treatment properties of activated carbon and the heavy metal reduction capabilities of ion exchange media. First Stage: The first stage consists of Doulton sterasyl ceramic which provides genuine sub micron filtration. The cartridge reduces fine particulate matter, bacteria, cysts and turbidity. The incorporation of silver locked within the ceramic structure gives enhanced bacteriostatic and self sterilizing properties. Second stage: An inner core of activated carbon block removes chlorine and organic compounds. Third Stage: Ion exchange resin reduces lead and other heavy metals. A variety of dedicated fittings are placed inside the bore of the element to remove chlorine, bad taste and odor, pesticides, herbicides, industrial solvents lead and other heavy metals. All Doulton ceramic cartridges are bacteriostatic - that is, self sterilizing for bacteriological safe cleaning and handling. Lead and other heavy metal reduction. Simple and effective

I purchased this after researching the different types of water filters out there. Our water was just tested by the EWG and found to contain chromium hexavalent (sigh). I really wanted a filter that could remove this contaminant, but the only ones that are effective in doing so are reverse osmosis systems. I am not comfortable with RO systems because they use (read waste) 5 gallons of water to produce one clean gallon of water. The rest of the water goes down the drain! I find that simply unconscionable here in CA where we are suffering from a drought. Also, the RO systems remove essential minerals -- the water is pretty much "dead."With this system, I get the heavy metals, chloramines, cysts and such removed. The water tastes great, it was simple to install and I like the fact that the Doulton ceramic filter can be cleaned and reused 35 times. A great value.My only regret is that I didn't buy the two-stage system with the additional flouride filter. My daughter's teeth are showing signs of flourosis and I would like to remove it from the water as well. I am hoping that our water company will follow the CDC's new recommendations and lower the flouride levels in the water. If not, I'll be investing in the second stage sometime in the future.

Man, if you like clean water, you have to get one of these. No gaudy faucet attachments looking ugly on your sink, this one fits under the counter. easy to install and works GREAT. water tastes so clean. better than any bottled water i've drank. All my friends say the same thing. The filter can be cleaned and reused. I've had mine for about 8 months, and still haven't had to clean it. Ceramic is definitely the way to go. Great price too.

This filter is a wonderful system. One trip to the store and less than an hour and my husband had it installed (he is not a contractor). This system takes out the chlorine and other metal tastes in our water and gives a water that tastes cleaner than a lot of so called bottled spring waters that are out there. And as an added bonus, with less water bottle in my recycle bin I am down to once a month on having to roll it out to the curb. If you have been thinking about a sink filtering water system this is the one I recommend. As for the previous comments in regards to the dripping faucet we only had a bubble at the outlet for about a week and now nothing; this is such a non-issue. Also, the delivery was extremely quick; came within 3 days.
