Lens port

Excellent product.. however. the photo is misleading as it shows a lens instead of a lens port!

Good Product/Better Options

I bought the PPO-E01 Port because it was the cheapest option available for my 35mm F3.5 MACRO lens on my E-520 DSLR. It is a great product. If you own the Zuiko 14-45mm F3.5-5.6 Zoom lens that came on the older E-Series Olympus DSLR cameras, I would rate it as a four or five star product. It is well made and does the job it was designed for very well. The 14-45 F3.5-5.6 Zoom lens, is a lens that is no longer available from Olympus. You can still find it on Amazon.com and elsewhere on the web for around $200.00, but most people, like me, bought the E-520 and E-620 DSLR cameras after the 14-45mm zoom lens was discontinued as a kit lens. That is why I rated it as a three star product for my equipment.In retrospect, however, I think that I should have bought the PPO-E05 PortOlympus PORT UW LENS PPO-E05. I think I would have, if the information on Amazon's website had been more complete. I should have done better research elsewhere, so I can't blame Amazon completely. Understand also that the picture that accompanies the offering of the PPO-E05 on Amazon's website is not the port, but rather a picture of the Zuiko 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 zoom lens with lens hood in place. A previous reviewer called this to their attention, but as of this writing, they have not corrected the error. My camera came with the Zuiko 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 Zoom kit lens. The PPO-E01 comes with a Zoom ring PPZR-E01, which Olympus says one can use for a 180 degree focus ring for the Zuiko 50mm F2.0 MACRO lens and as the zoom ring for the 14-45mm zoom, but it really fits a little loosely on the 50mm and I don't have a 14-45mm Zoom to try it on, so I can't speak authoritatively on that. The PPO-E05 Port, however, works with both my 14-42mm zoom and my 35mm MACRO lens and it comes with the PPZR-E06 Zoom ring that works with my 14-42mm Zoom kit lens. For 360 degree focusing in either port, one still has to purchase the PPZR-E04 Focusing Ring. Simply put, if you have the 14-42mm kit lens that currently comes with the E-520 and E-620 and also have the 35mm MACRO, buy the PPO-E05 instead of the PPO-E01. Both products are excellent equipment, but the PPO-E05 is more cost effective choice, unless you have the older kit lens.
