This is a CW (continuous wave) pointer. This unit has a small green LED placed just above the ON button to show when the pointer is radiating. 1 minute on to 1 minute off is the "rule of thumb" with this green laser pointer to avoid overheating and/or malfunctioning. This is very bright. At night it shines very far. In the day, the laser dot is too bright to look at. It is all metal and comes in a nice metal case.
