4Does what it claims, but beware if you never soldered!
By Samo
First thing's first, arrived exactly when Amazon said it would, and free shipping + tracking was nice to watch the progress. To sum it up if you don't want to read what's next: It works. It isn't perfect, but it performs the same as much more expensive competing devices do if you know to expect it.Now for the device itself.Pros:-Does boost a signal. Does allow data transfer if you had next to no signal in the first place.-It uses 12 Volts, which is easy to find in terms of AC to DC convertors.-Nice connectors. Easy to plug and unplug.-LONG wires. 30 feet from outdoor to indoor antenna. Power wire is long as well.Cons:-Need to place phone within about a foot to find the boosted signal. Placing it right on top of the patch antenna will give you max bars. Half a foot gives about half bars. Otherwise I think my phone had preference and would switch over the original signal. Will try other locations to see if a better original signal would change this aspect.-No AC to DC convertor (or even a cigarette lighter adaptor)! YOU GET BARE WIRES FOR YOUR POWER CABLE. THE PICTURE ON THE BOX HAS A CIGARETTE LIGHTER (including the amazon photo)! It's really meant to be tied into your car's power system, but I felt it should have had something on the darn thing. Luckily I had an AC to DC convertor lying around that barely made it work (very hot after 2 hours). Needs over 500mA at 12V from what I could gather. My 13.8V power supply worked much better.Cons that aren't the device's fault:-Bad signal in general will equal a bad boosted signal in general. Bad bandwidth and you think it's your signal? Guess what, it's not completely your signal since in my area it is also a bandwidth cap.-From what I could gather in the short time I used it, it isn't improving the signal (assumption), but merely transmitting the better reception (from where you place the outside antenna) to the indoor antenna. Why I say this is because I was testing the bandwidth on my phone and with or without the device on, the bandwidth was the same when the phone was placed near the outdoor antenna for fairness. So in other words you can be streaming music from your phone in a really dead-signal area as if you were outside. Pro + Con I guess.

Driving around LA, there are alot of hills, and it seems like my reception has really improved... no more of those annoying dropped calls.
