Product Description
An all-purpose screw designed to work in a variety of wood species, the Kreg 1-1/4-Inch #7 Hi-Lo Pocket Screws feature Maxi-loc washer heads and come in a 5,000-pack. The washer head of this screw sports a wide load-bearing surface and will not overdrive into the bottom of the pocket. This is an especially useful feature when working in softer materials such as plywood and composites. The screws also feature a type 17 auger tip that self-taps its own hole, eliminating the need to pre-drill in even the hardest materials. This screw drives significantly faster than a standard fine or coarse thread screw because of the presence of two separate threads on the screw body. The screws also have larger diameter steel shanks than many other screws on the market today making for an impressively strong screw that is almost impossible to break. The screws have a bronze colored finish and a dry-lubricant coating that eases driving torque and provides greater rust resistance. The screws are GREAT.... But

I have been buying these for over 8 years and the screws are Fantastic but suddenly Amazon has started shipping the shiny zink plated screws instead of the regular black screws. If you order the Kreg SML-HL125 you get Kreg SML-HL125-Z. I have tried several times to work with Amazon to correct this but they just keep shipping the zink plated screws. I am sure that in many cases it would not matter but when you are painting things black and you use shiny silver screws, they are noticeable and I would rather just have the plain black ones.

These are the "top of the line" screws for pocket holes. Kreg is true quality in all of their products. When I bought these the price was very good.

A far as pocket screws go these seem to be the best for harder woods. They can still snap in white oak but with the high/low threads they still get a good bite into the wood without stripping. Unfortunately three months ago they were $50 and now they are $75, but still cheeper than buying smaller containers, and better than the cheaper brands.
