Beware - you might have to take a saw to your truck

**** FITI really wanted to like this product and find a way to make it work. On my 03 Ford Explorer, step 8 of the instructions say to "trim the plastic on the lower air dam to clear brackets from tow hook pocket area." In my case, I measured and the trim would be cutting out a chunk of the lower air dam on each side. So, what they're saying is that I should take a jigsaw to the bumper that costs big bucks to replace and exactly what I'm trying to protect with the bull bar!To me, that's an ugly installation, where you must damage your vehicle to install this and you can never remove this product to add tow hooks or just to go back to the factory look without spending big bucks to get your vehicle repaired. And, yes it's thousands for almost any damage to your vehicle's front (the reason I got this in the first place). I'd like to be able to take this off and go back to stock in my garage, or install tow hooks, depending on where I'm at. By forcing me to cut my bumper, I can't go back easy.From looking at the parts, it looks like with a few modifications (drilling two holes on each of the mounting plates) Westin could've built a product that fit my vehicle without requiring me to take a saw to my truck. Heck, I can probably drill some holes on the mounting plates and make it work.However, this was advertised as easy to install and as fitting my vehicle. FIT does not equal taking a saw to your expensive front bumper plastic. Easy, does not mean drill a bunch of holes in the heavy metal mounting plates of the product (voiding any hope of warranty).Don't rely on the Amazon tool to tell you whether this fits or not, it wasn't accurate for me. This is the first time the tool has failed me and it's for an aftermarket product so I'll excuse it this time.I'm returning this product**** QUALITYThis product had the quality I would expect. It's a faux bull bar made of lighter steel (29lbs in weight). It'll make your vehicle look cool. It's a great place to mount off road lights.Would it survive a collission with a 2,000 bull in a Texas Ranch? I'm from Texas and to me, this bull bar and the front of your truck would be toast. It probably wouldn't do very well against a deer in the back roads of PA either. It's not thick steel and the mounting mechanism is not super sturdy.That said, this product might help with small fender benders but the bull bar would likely be dented/damaged in the process. Still any ding on a modern car costs thousands of dollars so I'd gladly buy these as disposable protection (protecting my deductible), if I could make them fit without having to take a saw to my truck.Now, most of us don't live in ranches so this product is great for the suburban dweller or mountain biker dude. Know that bull bars can be very dangerous to occupants of a vehicle if they interfere with the crumple zone characteristics of most modern vehicles. I think they've been outlawed in Europe for this reason. Since this is more for show and for very minor fender benders, I'd say this is probably not as bad as having a heavy gauge steel real bull bar on your truck but hey I'm no front end collission expert.So, for what this is intended, I would say that this product is very high quality. Just know you're not getting your ranch hand's bull bar.THREE STARSI give it three stars because I was led to believe it would fit and it doesn't fit my vehicle. When I opened it, I thought it was fantastic and I would gladly have mounted this thing onto my truck, IF I could've installed it without having to take a saw to my bumper.Note, just because it didn't fit my truck without cutting, doesn't mean it won't fit yours. Also, some people might not mind cutting up their car to put this bad boy on. Just letting you guys know my experience.

Good product. does what its supposed to do and adds a great look to my truck. a little tricky to get the lights on. have to take bar off truck and chrome plate also. fit 6" lights.

Called westin and they verified that thier catalog is wrong. Will not fit 03 ford sport trac.
